when can we expect to see DVD-R DL burners available?
I'd like to get one of the Pioneer, NEC, or LG drives once they get this feature.

In January Pioneer is supposed to release the 109 (I read it somewhere).

January? I have heard no such thing.
When? Probably not until late spring.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Please tell me you've not been holding out for a year just because it's a -R? Like all new things, it will cost more and the media will be (more) expensive.
You can probably pick up a +DL for under $100 and spend the money you save on some DL disks, and more importantly a set-top player that can play DL disks (most can't!).Regards,

NEC ND-3520A supports dvd-r dl. I will add the dvd-r dl search feature to the dvd writer list soon.

you really think they will relesase dvd-r dl firmware for the 3520A? It doesnt really make sense when they could make people buy new drives.
