Hi, I have a Panasonic FZ20 and it does short movies or sound with stills. I can play this with QUICK TIME, but I need to convert to mpeg 1 or similar.
What I'm trying to do is burn these images with sound onto a video disc and play them on my TV. Nero won't touch them due to copywrite, so is there another way?
In other words, what converts Quick time files to something I can use?

How are you going? Best wishes for the new year. I have already tried TMPG and V-DUB, no luck there.

To convert from QuickTime MOV videos you must download the qtreader.vfp and copy it to the TMPGEnc folder. If in doubt, Google it. -
Good point jimmalenko...
Also, if you get an error from TMPGEnc about a problem decoding the audio once you've pressed "Start" then go to Option -> Environmental Setting -> VFAPI Plugin (tab) and set the "Quicktime Movie Reader" to the top of the list by right-clicking on it and "Higher Priority" until it's at the top.
My TMPGEnc hangs once it's done, but the MPG file is OK so I just kill TMPGEnc in Task Manager. There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

Digital camera files are usually MJPEG in a MOV or AVI wrapper. You will need the MJPEG codec. I still have this on my todo list for my new Canon.
Quicktime Pro is supposed to support MJPEG I'm told.
For TMPGENC I'm told these work:
PicVideo

Morgan-Multimedia http://www.morgan-multimedia.com/technicalsV3.htm
Quicktime Reader plug-in for TMPGEnc
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video ... mpgenc.cfm
Movie Maker 2 and Windows Media Encoder 9 are supposed to work with QuickTime Pro or QuickTime Alternative
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video ... native.cfm installed
Another lead
RAD Video tools.

Sorry I didn't reply right away, but when your post came in I was catching up on my beauty sleep (in vain, I might add)
Anyway, give it a go and if you have problems, let me know. I think the pics are more interesting with sound. BTW, you can also do it with the short video that cameras have.
Many thanks again to JIm, who came up with the vital info."Whenever I need to "get away,'' I just get away in my mind. I go to my imaginary spot, where the beach is perfect and the water is perfect and the weather is perfect. The only bad thing there are the flies. They're terrible!" Jack Handey -
Thanks, I will give it a try this weekend when I find some time. Does the FZ20 allow you to zoom while in movie mode? I am a little disappointed that the FZ3 locks the zoom. However, video capability isn't the reason that I bought the camera anyway. It takes wonderful stills and that is what counts!
No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space. -
The FZ 20 also locks the zoom.

My Nikon also recods mov's, and only way I've found for converting it to anything, is River Past Video Cleaner - turns it into an AVI just like that, where every other tool have failed (and I've tried all in the book!)
