  1. I have been trying to convert a 3ivx file to svcd. I've tried tmpgenc but it hangs after an hour or so, i've tried what has been said here but it still refuses to co-operate. This is probably because i'm doing this on a 333 celeron w/ 128mb. the only prog that works is cucusoft avi to vcd, but the quality is too bad, plus it can't read 3ivx. does anyone have any ideas on how to do this?

So this is an mp4 file? Cucusoft should read it fine as it reads input via dshow.

  3. mov file. It might work but I would prefer not to use avi-vcd as you can't specify the bitrate like in tmpgenc

The 3ivX muxer says to name the output mov or mp4. So mov or mp4 it is the same thing. Scrap that, it looks like the muxer does infact output differently based on the filextension of the file writer filter.

If Cucusoft is the only thing that works then I don't see that you have much choice in the matter. Have you tried CCE, MainConcept, Canopus, etc. though?
