  1. I tried opening a avi file in VirtualDub 1.6.2. and I got this error.

    Couldn't locate decompressor for format "DIV3"(Microsoft High-Speed MPEG-4 V3 [HackivX Low Motion])

VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by a Windows Media Player, are not suitable.

You need to install a Divx or other MPEG4 codec that your software can utilize Try the web page for the software vendor under "Support"

This will tell you what codec you need. Then download and install it from the tools section.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Tachnically DivX/MS MPEG4 is not MPEG4, however some MPEG4 codecs like DivX and 3ivX also handle it as does ffdshow. Then there is the actual DivX311alpha codec. Personally I would go with ffdshow.

Just make sure that in the VFW decoder settings DivX 3 is set to libavcodec and not disabled.
