    I am new to this. I just was given a Pioneer DVR - A08XL do I have to put the code in for the Country I am in.

    No, the only code I'm aware of is the Region code. If you are playing different region DVD's, it will ask you to change in the DVD software like Powerdvd.

    Just remember that you only get 5 changes, unless you look at some software alternatives (see the region free tools link in the tools section), or a region-free firmware for your drive.
