  1. I have a VCD that I want to extract the audio and put it in a CD. Strange as it sounds, when I play the disk in media player or real player, I can only get music only. When I use WinDVD or Power DVD to play the same file, I can hear the vocal at the right channel.

No matter how I do it in the media player or real player, I cannot get the vocal sound.

Can someone tell me how can I extract the audio (including vocal) from this kind of file. THanks.

  2. Use vcdgear to extract the mpeg from the dat file, then try.

If you still hear now sound it may be a codec problem.

Post back with your findings, guides for using vcdgear can be found on the left.

What Russ said, although IIRC there is no guide for VCDGear here

All you need to do is:

    1. Set the conversion type to dat -> MPEG

    2. Browse to your drive with the VCD in it, go into the MPEGAV directory and select the AVSEQ01.dat file.

    3. Press the start button. You will be asked where you want to save the file to and what name you want it saved with.

This will create an MPEG file for you. Then you can load the MPEG into goldwave directly, or load into virtualdub and extract to a WAV file using this guide.
    If in doubt, Google it.

I've spent plenty of time in the guides section, and recall that I had to teach myself how to use this program for this exact purpose. Maybe I'll copy that post into a guide or something, but there's so many operations that VCDGear can do that a full-blown guide on every function is required to do it justice IMO.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Well, neither Media Player nor RealPlayer are VCD players. WinDVD and PowerDVD are.
