  1. Having some trouble with capture recently.

    Here is the signal chain:
    PAL VHS>VCR > Scart > 3 Phono (AL, AR, V) > Pinnacle Firewire MovieBox > Firewire cable > PC (Pinnacle Studio to capture)

    And here is the result. You see a fine network of "black lines" over the video, almost like black lace. I am not sure what this is or what is causing it, since when the VHS tape is played into a TV, it looks normal.

  3. Strange. Electrical interference or a bad connection can
    cause banding like that but I have never seen it so
    fine and uniform. I take it that you see this on preview as well as capture?

  4. Yes, it is also seen on preview, connections/cables are clean and tight. It is grainier than organic whole wheat bread. It was taped directly from TV.

  5. No, by bad connection I meant a dry joint leaking
    static in the VCR. It looks ok on a normal TV but
    will show up on equipment like
    projectors or capture cards which require a clean
    signal.
