I have a DVD whose subtitles are all but totally unreadable, because they were authored as a color that frequently shows up in the video behind the subtitles. Is there a tool that would let me easily re-author this video with the subtitles as a different color?

Vob Blanker will do this and its free. mabe even pgcedit. free also. Some prog when encoding will change the color of sub titles. So I use vob blanker and it works well.
