What is the point of finalizing VR discs when they can't be read in a DVD player or a computer?

Buy there are some DVD players which can read VR-mode DVD discs, and WinXP can read VR-mode discs (UDF Ver 2.01 format) as well.Originally Posted by sync

I think it has to be WinXP Pro, anyway you can download READ DVD from the following link:Originally Posted by sync

I have XP Pro. I read something on the MS site that gave the impression this capability might be in SP2. I hadn't upgraded and decided this might be a compelling reason to do so. I installed SP2 and now I can read the VR disc.
I wanted to see if editing out the commercials in VR mode was a physical cut or just a logical cut as I suspected. It does appear to be just logical. -
You can also use Nero InCD or InCD reader 4.3.x.x. This works on both Windows 2000 and XP also.Originally Posted by Synergy
That depends on how you defines physical or logical cut. The space of the cut is reuseable by other recording. The cut is not erased immediately. Just like when you delete the file on your PC, they are not erased immediately.Originally Posted by sync -
I reauthor my discs on the computer. I wanted to see if I could save time and money by editing out the commercials in VR mode before transferring to the computer. But it doesn't seem very practical for that use.
