I recently got a Thinkpad T42p with Windows XP SP1 in it and I'm having all types of compatibility problems with my LG drive. I have it hooked via one of the USB 2.0 ports and it has the 304 firmware upgrade.
For example, when I put a software CD-Rom in the Thinkpad modular bay's multi-drive the read file pops up automatically and I can "explore" the CD all the way down to the root of every folder. But when I put that same CD in the LG, although it recognizes it, some folders don't even show up and the ones that DO show up are empty. This happens with CD's/DVD's of all formats.
Also, I can format, write, and "Make compatible" a DVD-R in the internal drive and the LG would sometimes not show the label/name of the disc, sometimes show the disc as empty, and sometimes give me the "not accessible" message. And neither the LG nor the Thinkpad would read CD-RWs with data recorded in another computer. Any 4040B / Win XP owners out there familiar with these problems please give me some ideas. Thanks!
