  2. I presume you want to backup some of your movies? Some useful things here for you, just click on the name:

DVDinfoPRO, freeware version. It can erase DVDRWs for you. Also some other very handy functions.

DVDDecrypter, freeware. Use it to rip to harddrive and remove copy protection. For your first go, use FILE Mode.

DVDShrink, freeware. OPEN the files from last step with this. Let it shrink your DVD files (to fit a DVDR) and save as ISO. Then start DVDDecrypter again, ISO > WRITE Mode, and burn the ISO output from DVDShrink.

Almost foolproof and some feel it's the best way to do it. This should keep you occupied for awhile. Also check out the guides listed on the same page after you click on the tool.

    Good luck.

Copy it to your hard drive first, simple.

Your copy program should have an erase function.

Did you get any software with it? Try Alcohol 120%, Nero etc.

If you are copying commercial DVD's (that you own of course) then you will need something like DVDShrink to decrypt and shrink it to your hard drive.

    Edit, Good tips fritzi..all freeware!

  5. ZippyP, thanks, it means something coming from you. I've learned a good deal from your posts, always reliable advice.

Could this be the first thread from those getting DVD burners for XMas? Baldrick really should have something prepared to put up as a sticky.

This kind of thing is easily covered in the guides to the upper left and/or a little bit of searching. You don't need two drives to copy a DVD, just the hard drive space, burner and any number of DVD copying software. Again, check the guides.

To erase a disc, use burning software. Pick one - chances are it'll do what you need.

P.S. You also seem to be a noob at writing plain English. It's very hard to answer a question in one sentence that contains more than one question.

"Wrong disc" more often means bad region info. Or in this case, that region 0, region free or all-region is rejected.
