  1. Hi there,
I am having trouble converting 2 xvid files I have to SVCD video.
In TMPGEnc Plus, when I click 'ok' to 'start converting immediately' (after setting source range etc) I get the error "Read error occured at address 00012F40 of module TMPGEnc.exe with 20656850". Now, I've been scouring the internet for the past few days to try and find the solution and the suggestions were:

    - Change 'DirectShow Multimedia File Reader' to value of +2
    - Make sure all codecs are up to date
    - Defrag the hard drive
    - Check the video file for errors

I have changed the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader to +2 and have used 'Avicodec' to make sure I have all up to date codecs. I have defragged the hard drive today and I am still getting the error. So this leaves me with the video file having errors but I have downloaded 2 xvid versions of both of the videos and have had the same error for every single one.
I also tried using Nero 6 to burn the avi file but it comes up with a Windows XP error saying the program has an error and has to be terminated (also when it is about to start converting the video).

Can anybody help at all?! I can't think of anything else to do!
    Thanks very much!
Any help is really greatfully appreciated!

  2. Load the xvids in VirtualDub. Frameserve as a .vdr file and leave virtualdub open. Open the vdr in TMPGenc, apply settings/template and encode. May slow down encode a bit but will work 99.99% of the time where all other methods fail. Good luck.
