Stumbled on this forum and thankful for all the useful info. Have been extremely frustrated installing above card on my IWILL 266-R, Athlon 1.4G, Elsa Gladiac 64Meg video system. Am having trouble with the drivers. Following the installation instructions, put in the card, rebooted and Found Hardware wizard recognizes card and tries to install drivers from the installation CD. It then errors out with the message "AVerDVD EZMaker WDM Video capture". "An error occured during installation of the device. Access is denied." Tech support (AVerMedia) was of no help, advising me that it is not their card/drivers/software that is the problem. Tried everything possible, changing PCI slots, uninstalling/reinstalling. The card shows up as "Multimedia Controller" under device manager with the yellow "!" suggesting proper drivers have not been installed. Each bootup results in launch of "Found new hardware" wizard until I disabled Multimedia controller under device manager. Sorry for the lengthy post, my first attempt at video capture and has been a frustrating experience. Thanks for any help.

Read the yellow "!" for what is wrong.

Have you tried downloading the newest version of the driver and application software?
Download that and try to install from that FOLDER on the HDD instead of trying to install from the CD DISC.

Thanks for the extremely fast responses! The yello "!" tells me that "This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1). To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver". Clicking the Reinstall Driver results in the error described in my original posting.
I did go to AVerMedia website and downloaded the "driver.exe" program. A Driver Installer window popped up with the message "Update Driver_SAA713x() fail", followed by Install driver utility window with the message "AVerMedia WDM Driver installed successfully".
The yellow "!" stayed on in device manager.
Thanks lordsmurf and FulciLives. -
What operating system are you using? I have installed that card on two different systems I have under WinXP. Haven't had a problem. Neither of them has a VIA chipset, however (both are nForce2). Perhaps after Christmas, I can try installing one of them on my wife's system, which just happens to be my old KK-266 (non-raid). Damn good board

Running Windows XP Pro, thanks BrainStorm69. Most people seem to have no problem with the card and seem to speak hightly of the simplicity of installing and using the card. My experience thus far has been frustrating.

try to put the card on another pci slot and install the drivers you downloaded.
might workHELL AINT A BAD PLACE TO BE -

Do you have the leatest drivers for your Gladiac installed?
I also have WinXP Pro installed on my machines. Perhaps tomorrow I can try installing on my wife's machine and see if I run into any problems. -
Thanks much for your suggestions folks. Yes, I did log on as Administrator. I have not checked out the bios for the IWILL-KK266-R board which I will right away. The graphics card drivers are latest.

Latest BIOS for KK266-R installed, still no go on installing the AVerMedia PCI card. Thanks for all the suggestions folks. Think I should move on to someother capture card

Guess what?
I just got an Avermedia DVD EZMaker PCI card since it seems to be slightly better than my Avermedia AverTV Stereo PCI capture card.
Now the AverTV Stereo has been working fine on my new computer (which came pre-installed with WinXP Home SP2 and was purchased this past December 2004) but I cannot get this DVD EZMaker installed for the life of me!
Actually it is more complicated than that. I did get it installed and it was working but I was dropping frames. I had not done a defrag in some time so I thought maybe that was it ... still though 7 frames in a 15 minute capture (HuffyUV codec which worked fine with AverTV Stereo).
So I go to defrag and I get this really strange msg (I should have wrote it down but I didn't) saying it was NOT a Windows MCC application or was newer than it should be or something like that. Huh?
I try to go to the device manager. Same strange error! Cannot access it!
I go to the Microsoft Windows update. IE opens up to a blank white page. Nothing happens.
What the hell?
I take the card out (no capture card now) and same errors.
I go back to a system restore point (thank god for small miracles like this bit of genious ... kudos to Microsoft) and all is well.
Scratch head here.
So I try to install it again but this time using the driver I downloaded from the Avermedia website. No go. It says that there is an error and my hardware may not work and VirtualVCR says I have no capture device.
All that crazyness is back too with the strange errors I told before.
So I take the card out and back to my system restore point and all is fine but I don't know what to do other than to re-install my AverTV Stereo and **** this DVD EZMaker. I bought it on eBay (brand new still sealed retail box) so no return for me. I'm out about $36 and change.
I will probably try one more time in a different PCI slot but I can't imagine that this is the problem?
BTW I ran the uninstaller from the BTwincap driver which is supposed to remove any BT driver crap (thus blowing out the AverTV Stereo installation) prior to installing the DVD EZMaker. So I don't think the problem is conflicting drivers from the previous card. Like I said I did get it working that first time but only at the expense of some computer crazyness.
Any ideas?

Fulci, I don't know why it's causing problems, but I have to think it's somehow related to something else on your system. I hate to suggest a fresh install of Windows, but it sounds like that might be the only recourse. Have you tried searching the web for install problems related to the card? I've installed one on three computers so far without a hitch.
-
I finally got it installed and working without ******* up the computer.
The solution?
I changed PCI slots but I think the real solution was that I manually picked the driver from the CD (there were two choices) whereas before I did it on "auto" when doing it from the CD.
So I guess I managed to pick the correct one whereas the microsoft installer picked the wrong one.
Go figure.
Only probelm now is ...
I am getting dropped frames. Not alot but they are there. Like 1 or sometimes 2 at a time once every couple of minutes give or take. This is with HuffyUV and PICVideo MJPEG.
The computer is definately fast enough and although this computer is very new to me (4 or 5 weeks now) I did have my old AverTV STEREO PCI in it and had no such issues.
So I don't know what the deal is there.
Blah.

have you got a motherboard with a soundcard on it?
are you using a pci soundcard and not the one thats on your MOBO?
if so, try to disable the soundcard on your mobo through the bios.
might work.HELL AINT A BAD PLACE TO BE -
Fulci, you didn't install the NeoDVD software that came with the card, did you? Strangely enough, I did a couple of weeks ago (I'd never installled it before) and started having real problems with dropped frames when before I wasn't having problems. It continued to drop frames even after I uninstalled the NeoDVD software. Since I hadn't set a restore point, I didn't have any choice but to do a fresh Windows install. Did that, and the problem disappeared.
-
Well the AverTV Stereo PCI card was working with the built-in soundcard but I have a SoundBlaster 16 and I tried that and still no go. In other words the DVD EZMaker is still dropping frames even using the SouondBlaster 16 PCI sound card.
This DVD EZMaker is being a pain-in-the-ass
I did install NeoDVD eventhough I know it is a crap program. I did uninstall it then roll back to a system retore point.
Maybe that is the problem?
I am going to try putting in the AverTV Stereo and see how it works. If it works A-OK I may just keep on using it.
However, if it gives me problems now (whereas before it did not) then I may have to re-install windows and all that jazz and try the DVD EZMaker without isntalling anything else like the AverTV Stereo or NeoDVD.

Well now I'm really ticked off
I installed my AverTV Stereo PCI capture card (taking out the DVD EZMaker PCI) and did a capture and guess what? ... not one dropped frame.
I used the same settings and codec etc. the only different being I used 688x480 for a proper AverTV Stereo PCI aspect ratio whereas the capture with the DVD EZMaker PCI was 704x480 but I had considered this prior and had tried to capture at 640x480 using the DVD EZMaker PCI and still had dropped frames.
The source in all test captures was from a DVD using the same DVD player and cords etc. this way I could eliminate the source as being the problem.
I guess I have 2 options now ... leave it as be and use the AverTV Stereo PCI as I have been doing OR delete everything and re-install Windows and start fresh and see if the DVD EZMaker works that way.
I'll be damned pissed off if I do all that though and it still does not work.
Blah.

I have exactly the same problem (and exact same error message) as Chetha had posted. My video capture used to work fine. However, after my hard drive died, I reinstall XP and all drivers for all my cards. The Avermedia dvd easy maker now has the problem and can not be updated. Has anyone figured out how to solve this problem?
Thanks
