  1. I'm already gearing up to file taxes at the end of January. What Turbo Tax should I be looking for? 2004 is out, but wouldn't I need to get TT2005?

Turbo Tax is named for the "Tax Year" printed on the box.

No. TT2005 is for taxes for the year 2005. You want 2004

And I usually don't even start thinking about doing my taxes ( ) until late January

  4. See...it's already confusing. So I need TT'04 when I file my taxes in '05 since I'm filing for the '04 tax year, right?

TT2005 is not out, nor will it be until late in 2005.
And the 2005 taxes are due April 15th 2006.

TT2004 is for the 2004 tax year.
