I have no real clue exactly what you are talking about here ... could you be a bit more specific please?

    Thanks.

If we are talking say DivX/XviD avi's then it is just what the input colourspace was. A 12bit file they say used VirtualDubMod with fast recomress where as the 24bit one used full processing mode. Therefor the 12bit file should actually be the higher quality one. In the case of MPEG1/2/4 they are all internally YV12 (12bit), well excluding MPEG2 studio profiles.

Oh to answer your question though. Only if it is RAW video. 60mins of RAW RGB24 will be twice the size as 60mins of RAW YV12. With compressed video then it always comes down to the bitrate.

  5. so your saying to do 12 bit i gotta do fast recompress
but will i lose quality or anything cause i need to keep macro blocks aount low and i have to compress a 1:39 video to 22 megabytes and keep it cleaned and good

Think that you missed my point. In the case of a YV12 source you want to keep it YV12, converting to RGB24 and back will cause a loss in quality not a gain. In fact the source colourspace doesn't really matter as with DivX, XviD, etc. then it is going to have to be converted to YV12 at some stage.
