I've noticed that all the newbies here are just making there Subject irrelevant to get an answer. Stuff like: "I NEED HELP!" Major problem here!!!!!!"
Can't you guys just make your subject a short discription of your problem? Example: "Windows XP crashes when I use TMPGEnc"
It would save us all alot less headaches. So PLEASE start using proper subjects!
    Thank you,

pinoy2201, I agree with you 100%! Also double posting is an issue.
BTW You're close to becoming a Moderator! Isn't that at 1000 posts? Well keep up the good work,

  4. I know you guys think that you are all really cool and all that, but some of these guys are new to posting in forums and don't exactly understand how this thing works. And for you knuckleheads to rag on them for making a post is totally uncalled for!!! Just remember you idiots had to start somewhere also!!
    Quote Quote
  5. and yes we "idiots" as you put started the proper way..by READING the WHOLE website first, and then searching/reading what others users posted, THEN when all else fails, ask a concise question regarding your issue.

  6. I apologize for using the word "idiots". I most assuredly did not mean to call anyone an idiot on this forum. All of you guys and girls have really helped me a lot in making VCD's and SVCD's and archiving my old home videos. I also appreciate the DVD player comparison chart. I bought my Daewoo 5000N because of the comments on this site. So once again let me apologize to those I may have offended! I am truly sorry!

I have never double posted or given my topics ambiguous titles, nor have the majority of other people in this forum. Double posting is just plain ignorant and lazy, ambiguous headings dont bother me, I just dont bother to read their problem if they cant be bothered to give a meaningful title to it.
Defending the lazy is not a good idea, if things like this go unsaid, more people will do it thus wasting more of the moderators time and wasting even more bandwidth.

  9. You made more posts then me, I always tried busting my head on my own, I think my "legendary" post was the "90min movie on 80min CDR" if anyone remembers it

But I do agree some newbies do tend to post in alot of the forum the same question, then you don't know where to answer and which one to keep checking, but screaming and complaining won't work, you gotta explain, and hope they don't do it again.

You get more when you talk nicely and respect each other, then start calling names, personaly, i've already quited once in the past because I don't like getting into personal insult situation, it doesn't help anyone, and it just plain hurts.

Ah the good ol' days of VCD help.
Remember the heated debate of Sefy's SxVCD template, that must have lasted for weeks on end.

Ya, how did you do that sig?
pretty sweet. I have been thinking about a sig that would be pretty cool but I am a lame-o and can't think of anything coool.

There are no stupid questions, just stupid answers.
    I guess.
I do agree that many people post questions to get a "quick" answer, and for some reason or another they don't appear to be searching the guides or posts. But keep in mind that maybe someone was just referred to this site, and sees the list of posts on the side and just says to him/herself, "oh i'll just ask in the forum - my problem is _____." To blast these people with insults is just unfair. If it bothers you to answer the same questions over and over, then just DONT. Don't stress yourself out over what you may consider someone else's ignorance. We all learn something new everyday. Some of us have a sharper learning curve than others. Think of when you first started doing all of this, it didn't just happen overnight. I understand both sides. Some people just don't have a lot of technical background for troubleshooting, etc., and may even read the guides but NOT UNDERSTAND THEM, so they may need a different approach to learning what to do.
Personally, I read the guides and search the posts, but i've been hitting this site for a long, long time now. I try to figure things out on my own before i ask for help, or to see if others have experienced similar problems. Put my name in the post's search function to see what kind of questions i ask.
I consider myself knowledgeable enough in this hobby to answer many questions newbies could ask. However, I choose to "keep it on the down-low". I'm a pretty busy guy, handling many projects for many people, usually for free. I like to spread knowledge, but it seems there is somewhat of a heirarchy here. There are more and more "bigshots" showing up in the posts. Usually these are the guys who beat the hell out of a newbie for asking a "dumb question".
Hey, it must be great to be so perfect.
Kudos to Sefy and Baldrick and crew who maintain thier cool and are extremely helpful to those in need of it.

  16. I agree with Mole wholeheartly, If certain people within the forum dont want to answer so called Newbies questions just dont answer them and stop whinging about it all the time.I LOOK AT SOME OF THESE WHINGERS who I might add are not in the forum a wet day and here they are running down other people, like mole says its as well Baldrick and Sefy are in control, who have to be admired for there dedication to the Forum, the Whingers could learn a lot from them.

Before I go don't forget and whinge about this post as I know you will. don't let me down

  19. d4n13l, no believe me I don't miss him, after he was gone, notice how we managed to more help people then argue and insult, it was the one time I actually stepped down and started using insults, I was so unlike myself that I just quit, if it wasn't for forum members who requested me to come back, people like you and TibrO at the time, I propably would not have come back.

Thurbs, you kidding, I still get people asking for my Template, what bites me is that for some reason my own Pioneer stopped reading it! talk about a bommer! I have no idea why, it still reads my old made SxVCD, just no new ones!

mole, I appriciate the compliments, although I don't consider myself a "bigshot", I like to think of myself as a constant newbie, cause like you said, we all learn something new, and I defenetly don't know everything!

pinoy2201, yup, I admit it, i'm not the one in control, I dont like taking credit for something that I didn't do, and people give me credit for VCDhelp, and that's not fair to the one who started it, Baldrick should get all the credit, i'm more or less of a Member that got an upgrade, I just want to do what I can to help those who are having problems.

patsym1, I'm glad to hear that, thank you!

    Sefy,
Please do not get me wrong. The "bigshots" I speak of - you are definitely not that. I'm talking about people who really haven't been at this long, but have a knack for it - So they get all officious like they know it all and convey an attitude like 'bah - screw this new guy who doesn't know anything.' Then take their chance to flame them.
You are very humble, and very easy going. You are willing to do what you can to help someone when they may have been turned away otherwise. You are well appreciated here, and deserve whatever "upgraded" status you currently hold.
After all, you don't have to help ANYONE out, but you DO.
That is why yours is a respected name in these forums.
I wonder how many of the "bigshots" I have hinted about have actually sought advice from you in the past.
Maybe their attitude has something to do with the way thier posted questions had been recieved, so they feel a need to reciprocate. Maybe they have bad home lives. Maybe it's just a rash. Who knows?
It's no wonder this world is so F'ed up.
I choose complacency. It keeps me from trouble.

preacher238: I never said newbies are idiots, just that they shouldn't do idiotic things like double post and use irrelevant subjects.

pinoy2201: Yes like Shabubu said I use Macromedia Flash 5 to make my signature. It's a bit complex to use though.

mole: I just wanted to tell the newbies not to do this in the future so that the forum and site webspace doesn't get clogged up with repeated messages.

Sefy: You said your DVD player has stopped reading your new SxVCDs. Maybe its the media you're using?

Well thats all from me now,

  22. mole, thank you, I really appriciate it, I remember a few months ago, I was more being bashed, so it's nice to see some sort of change on the forum, and i've always tried to be as nice as I could and show people the respect I believe they do deserve, I believe if you give respect, there is more chances you will recieve it, it's a pity it doesn't happen in real life

Dhruv, using the same media brand, it's a really weird thing!

One thing that gets on my nerves sometimes is when I see a question being asked at least once a week. The same simple question, over and over again. In my opinion this just helps to create a slower forum and it also wastes bandwith.
I have been guily of blasting fools ocasionaly, but not newbies. Newbies can be a bit lame sometimes, but I wouldnt slam a newbie unless there was a good reason to. Like a cross poster maybe. The reason why, is the extra work that it gives Baldrick, how many times have you seen him move topics, stop cross posting, warez requests etc Dont you think that the guy deserves a break?

  24. Yup, defenetly, I feel sorry for Baldrick, the poor guy needs some relaxation time without going over the forum all the time!

  26. First off , I'd like to give props to everyone who is associated with this website. The information on this website , along with the input of all of you make this site invaluable......I'm outty.

  27. I would just like to clarify that the word is WHINERS, not whingers, only mentioned it because you misspelled it twice, once a mistake, twice hmmm....

Also, lets not get it twisted please, NEWBIE is not an excuse for being lazy nor ignorant. Just because you are new, doesnt mean you need to go double posting left & right or asking the same quesiont over & over. I say this out of concern for the bandwitdh of this site. I didnt like it being down for awhile not to long ago, and do not want to see it happen again. I do not mind helping someone out the saved them the time/headache of what I went through to learn. But at the same time, I feel I learned so much more because I went through by myself first before I asked for help...instead posting stupid topics like "how do I convert a DVD to VCD"...to me, that type of person, newbie or not, needs to have his a$$ ragged...yeah, Ive taken more of back seat and dont try to help as much because of that..but then you get those few bad apples, that when they dont get any help...start posting stuff about how much this site sucks

    Kdiddy,
    Whingers is a word.
It is the plural form of the noun whinger.
This is a British word, probably not known in the US.
    A whinger is a whiner.

    Quote Quote
  29. My two cents.

Yeah a lot of the same questions are asked week after week, but sometimes thats just what has to happen. It would be nice if all of the "newbies" took a look at the "how to" section. However, thats not going to happen. If someone asks a question that you don't want to answer, don't answer the question. Its as simple as that.

I was under the impression this site was to help people not yell at them for asking questions......

Cross posters?!?!?!? They can be shot.....
    Quote Quote
  30. Yup, defenetly, the best way is to smile and answer, or not answer if you don't feel like it, I try to answer without doing a yell or a scream, it doesn't really help or assist, and they will just come back for me, not to mention complain
