    Is it possible to set Virtualdub to encode in Idle mode by default? I'm looking at encoding a few files but the only way that I know of to set the idle priority is when the video is actually encoding.

    In the preferences, just set the default dub priority to idle.

    Options -> Preferences -> Main tab, Dub Defaults pulldown -> Idle.
