  1. My pioneer DV-530 player suddenly give " no disc" error today but DVD plays fine. anyone know how to make it play VCD and SVCD again? pls help.

    also i just bought ALBA DVD566, is there any hack to make it play vcd/svcd as well? in case you guys don't know this model, it's the one sold at argos uk

  2. about that ALBA DVD566 i decided to take it back to argos and change it for philips DVP520 at the same price £49.99 but i was given DVP630 instead, how lucky i was this player can play divx. the price is £79.99
    but i just pay £49.99

    so, about my pioneer DV-530 anybody have the answer? i have try every trick posibble in the manual but to no avail.

    Sounds like your player is dying. I had a norcent dp300 do the same thing. It will play factory pressed as well as burned + and - format dvds but will not play anything on cd media. Just happened all at once. I don't think you will be able to do much short of getting it repaired and it would probably be cheaper to just get a new one.

    DVD players that play VCD/SVCD use a different laser for those discs than to play DVDs. Your player probably has a problem with that laser and needs repair. Given how cheap players are today, it's probably cheaper to just buy a new player than to repair this. Newer players probably have features your player lacks.
