  1. i just want to create dvds of my home videos (sony camcorder - hi8).

i capture using the dazzle video creator 2.

i had to edit it so i produce an mpeg file.

then when i tried to burn it to nero it wont let me so i try to create it in tmpgen 1.6 first which i got as a beta version.

it created 2 folders (video1 - with nothing in it, and video2 - which has an audio(nothing in it) and video folder with files in it)

when you want to start to write the dvd, there's two folders (audio, video),
where do you move your video1,video2? or can you just move it to the root side by side with the audio/video folders and then write the dvd?

what i did was move the video2 folder which is the only one with files in it to the video folder.

it got to 50% and for the whole day it was like that. i even had problems shutting the pc down.

    my specs - dell 4600 2.8ghz 80gb+250gb hd, 256ram, 800fsb
have an io magic double layer 16x dvd+-r,rw-(master) dvd writer
and another 8x dvd=-r/rw dvd writer

also has anyone encountered this where when i start the nero , the drive keeps opening /closing?

    thanks a lot in advance

    Hi dalegen,

Welcome to the site and the forums...

When you capture, what format do you end up with?

If it's AVI you need to encode to DVD compliant MPEG2 first.

If it's MPG, it needs to be DVD compliant MPEG2.

Either way, you need to load DVD compliant MPGs into TMPGEnc DVD Author (TDA), or similar. You can create menus and chapters if you want to.

Once authoring has finished, you'll have your VOB, IFO and BUP files in a VIDEO_TS directory, as well as an empty AUDIO_TS directory (the latter being empty i normal).

Either use the burn engine in TDA, or use nero to burn the two folders to your DVD. I'd suggest using a re-writeable DVD for test birns until you're happy with the process and any menus / chapters you create.

    Hope that helps. Good luck...

It sounds to me like you've got the authoring down, so I'll recommend this guide for burning with Nero Express. You'll need to keep the VIDEO_TS folder under the Video2 folder
    If in doubt, Google it.

  4. thanks for all the advice. my other question is since tmpgen created 2 folders for me :

    1) video 1 folder , which includes a video_ts folder, which has these files:
    video_ts.vob
    vts_01_0.vob
    vts_01_1.vob

    2) video 2 folder , which includes a video_ts folder, which has these files:
    video_ts.bup
    video_ts.ifo
    video_ts.vob
    vts_01_0.bup
    vts_01_0.ifo
    vts_01_0.vob
    vts_01_1.vob
    vts_01_2.vob
    vts_01_3.vob
    vts_01_4.vob

do i copy all these to video_ts in nero (referring to step 2)

thanks again for all the help

  5. i tried to view the files that i just listed and it turns out that video1 was probably an error. it was a duplicate of the video 2 folder but contains only a very short version of vts_01_1.vob. but when i tried to burn it it stopped at 50%. i should probably get a dvd rw to test again.

  6. i tried to burn again and it was better than the last time. i got to 80% before it stopped. i'll try burning at a lower speed maybe 2x or 4x, im currently at 8x. i wasted 3 dvd+r already. i have to get an rw first

You might also want to check before burning by viewing it in a PC DVD viewer like powerdvd. Just to be sure that you have the folder and files configured correctly.

Don't know what simultation you mean, but you can select test burn. But that won't tell you if the video will play.

  11. winifreid, a button to the left of the burn button is [more], when you click it, it you will see a simulation button below before the [write] button

My suggestion. Dig a hole in your backyard, through the Dazzle in, cover up with dirt... rocks and move on and buy yourself a better internal capture card or a combo card like an ATI ALL In Wonder. I started out with a Dazzle and have not looked back since.
