I've started to learn how to use the second audio track in Womble MPEG Video Wizard 2003 for setting up crossfades and whatnot. However, when you use this function, it forces you to change the file type from AC3 to WAV or MPA. AC3 is disabled. If your source audio for (one or both of) the two tracks being mixed is 5.1, will the ouput WAV or MPA be a 5.1 file or a stereo file? And if it is the latter, are the center and rear channels downmixed, or are they just dropped altogether?
I am looking for a way to join together two 5.1 sources, but in order to avoid a noticable jump in volume at the edit point, I need to crossfade the tracks a little. If the Womble products won't let me do this, is there another recommended tool? Goldwave only works with stereo output according to their tech support, and Maven 3D Pro's trial didn't import more than 10.5 minutes of audio, which didn't help me evaulate jack.
Thanks in advance to anybody with a good solution for crossfading 5.1 tracks.

Womble does not provide AC3 encoding. Any editing of AC3 other than cuts will result in re-encoding the audio to another format.
I'm also looking for a solution to this.
