  1. My DVD player will play xvid movies, so I can put several on one disk. My question is there a way to put a menu for these movies? I copy them to the DVDR as data files using nero. I have to go to the root menu to pick which movies I want to play. The problem with that is that there is no discription of which movie is which. Any ideas? Thank

Nope. You can only make a menu for windows not your standalone dvd player.

Before burning, rename the filenames to be the names of the movies ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

Well in a perfect world an MPEG4 player would support XviD streams in an mp4 container complete with menus.

Matroska should have menu support sometime soon, however I reckon the chances of hardware support for that are even slimmer.

  6. Danm - have u actually succeeded in getting a DVD w several divx movies on it to play on your player?

[Please check out my adjacent thread on "Can I store [not convert] divx files on DVD?]

I'm a DVDwriter newbie, & have burned 3 DVD-R's w Nero [ISO/UDF & UDF-ISO] w divx movies on them - & my Yamada divx dvd player doesn't recognize any of them - & I can't really do anything w them [like copy or play properly] on my computer.

So I'd love to know how to successfully put several divx on a DVD. If u can tell me or provide a link, I would be v. grateful

I used Nero Express > New Data DVD, dragged n dropped, and voila ! 4 divX files on a DVD.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  8. I have lots of DVD+R and DVD+RW disks full of AVI and MPG files ranging from a few MB to 1 GB and they all play fine on my DVD/Divx player (Liteon LVD 2002) and my Windows XP computers.

I use Nero Burning ROM 6.3.1.6, with the DVD-ROM (ISO) or DVD-ROM (UDF), drag and drop files, and burn.

  9. I use nero and burn as a data disk. No problems, and plays great. I tried the idea of renaming files with short names, and that works ok.

  10. hi guys - thx for replies -

still in mid-newbie-crisis, but after checking out nearly every angle of this (if not neces. comprehensively) - Nero prog/ use of multisession or other check boxes/ drive/ explorer/ pos. file errors etc -

am beginning to think it's the DISKS - Bulkpaq - on one disk, [w Express - thx] first 3 movies played OK on player/ puter - but when added files 2nd session, disk became inoperable

on 2nd disk, filled with movies, first 3 movies burned played on player/puter, but rest didn't

think Bulkpaq disks have probs. handling multi-files, though probly k for normal single DVD-video movie burning

    comments appreciated

  11. Did you put paper labels on your disks? That can cause problems with some players. In most cases you can remove the label and the disk will work again.

Some players can't handle multiple sessions, long filenames, folders, very low bitrate MPG audio, AC3 audio, WMA audio, GMC, QPEL, etc.

  12. no - thx - but not prob.

like I said, 1st 2/3 files play on both player/puter - it's the last burned files that don't play... or make disk inoperable.. and give Explorer major probs in handling

apparently Bulkpaq are notorious, but gotta find out more
