4Kus Dvr-230 - Anyway to extract the firmware out of it?

I've got a 4kus dvr-230 (rebadged liteon 5006) is there any way to get the firmware out of it, cos id like to add the 3hr recording hack to it, but id like a copy of the original firmware just in case it has to go back to asda,

I dont think asda would like a machine back as a liteon!!! ha ha ha

I see there is a 6pin(i think) conector on the main pcb J-tag??

4Kus www has no firmware for it!

any ideas?

The 4kus DVR-230 is a rebadged LiteOn LVW5002 (no -RW support) sold in ASDA £139.67(UK Walmart member)

It's sold in the US as the iLODVDR04 in Walmart-there's loads of posts on it throughout this forum
The 4Kus differs in having 2 RGB scart sockets and a stereo NICAM tuner
Whether the iLO formware works who knows???-the multiregion hack is the same.........

I did know ILO is the us brand for it, & im sorry to say that it does'nt have a nicam tuner in it.

Ok im just gonna flash it & see wot happens but would someone be kind enough to post a serial number for a uk liteon 5006 cos the 4kus serial does let me in to the firmware download, on liteon's site

Are you sure about the tuner?
The 5006 launched in the UK in Oct does have a NICAM tuner ad I've seen evidence on one forum it is stereo.

The 4Kus is likely to record sound in MPEG2 rather than Dolby Digital 2 channel

Yep I'm Positive.

I Read up on the ILO dvdr04 acouple of weeks ago, & bought my dvr 230 from asda last week.

I've got no Svhs connectors just 2xscart (1 for 1 & 1 for out), RGB & comp out, & the digital audios on the back. & just comp in + audio L/R & IEEE on the front.

& i am 100% sure it's got a mono tuner.

went to liteon's www & got the spec's & the 1 that match's 100% is the 5006.

am i just unlucky because it should have a nicam tuner?
(if so its going back tonight!)

& does anyone know if asda are gonna start stocking the hdd version?
