I made a back-up using Dvd Decrytor and Dvd Shrink, however the DVD-R is something I bought off ebay called PRODISC, so I'm concerned about longevity, and wanted to transfer it over to a better brand dvd-r. I dd not want to back it up over again using the original dvd because compression time is too long. So I tried a straight DVD copy of the back up using NERO and it didn't work. I figured maybe I should rip the image first and then burn. So when I tried to rip with RecordNOW DX, it says PX ENGINE ERROR. Then I tried DVD decryptor and that too didn't work.

So does this mean that back-ups created by DVD Decryptor and SHrink cannot be backed up again? Please advise.

The other thing I just thought of is, if you bought a DVD-R, why did you use DVDShrink on it ? To be a DVD-R it must have been single layer, which means no DVDShrink required (you could have just done a 1:1 copy), unless you were using it to remove streams. In this case, it shouldn't have taken you very long at all to "compress", because it shouldn't have been actually compressing anything.
    If in doubt, Google it.

I've tried the "simple answer," and it didn't work. That's the reason why I ask. I guess I had a bad dvd-r.

Most likely. What error(s) did you get? CRC?
You might give IsoBuster a go too (so you might get the VOBs out intact at least).

Post a screenshot of DVDDecrypter's inability to do it in the ISO mode(s)....IE...what is DVDDecrypter "not" doing? What are the error messages(if any). Be More Specific.
    Does the DVD actually play?

  9. I could not make a back up of a back up using DVD X Copy, just though I'd share. No error message, the program simply didn't recognize the disc. Same drive, same program on same computer, funny.

No, not funny. Stupid. (Not of you, of 321 Studios )To keep the law at bay (didn't work, it turned out) they devised a "copy once" method, so if you did a copy with DVDXCopy, it put something (IIRC) on the copy that DVDXCopy looks for before creating a copy. If it detects that you're copying a copy, it won't let you. The workaround? Copy it with something else, like DVDDecrypter. (Or there are ways ( again IIRC) to remove the DVDXCopy marker before writing it to disc.)

Well, I don't use it anymore, not since I found this site. I'll have to try backing up one of those discs with decrypter or shrink just to see the results, or to at least get rid of that annoying 'this is a back up - 321 studios' screen. Thanks.
