A couple of months ago I bought some Prodisc dvd+R 8x (R03) White Inkjet printable to the hub and I'm just getting around to using them in my Pioneer 107 (firmware 121), they seem to play fine until I get to the end and then lockup. I've tried burning them at 4x but with the same results. I can't say that everyone I burn is this way but enough that it's a pain to use. I bought these from Rima along with some Ty Yudens dvd+R 8x White Inkjet that seem to burn okay. Questions:

    1. Did I just get a bad batch and should these really work in my Pioneer?

    2. Did I make a mistake by not getting -R disc?

    3. If these will not work with my Pioneer what other printable to the hub should I use? The only other dvd-r's I've used are TDK (CMC?) and Samsung (BeAll) and they burned flawlessly.

  2. My feeling is that Prodisc is having some quality problems. Check out this thread:

It's about the -R (F01) disks and I've had very little luck with them. There are a couple of threads out there that imply the non-printable disks are more reliable than the printable ones (seems to be the case in my experience), but no telling why that is.

Out of 100 prodisc -r (F01), I have gotten 40 successful burns. Pretty crappy. I'm going to stay away until I hear that things have gotten better. Ritek and TY only.

    Good luck.

Well I never thought there was anything my Pioneer wouldn't burn until I tried these Prodisc, but now I don't know.

I would like to order some Ty White Inkjet Hub Printable from Rima but should I be using - or + 8x with my Pioneer 107?

  4. I'm having great luck with the TY 8x printable -R. They burn at 10 to 12x on my pioneer 108 and have yet to make a coaster yet -- even if I'm hitting my hard drive pretty heavily with other stuff. The ones I have are not hub-printable, but I imagine they would be the same. On the other hand, from what I hear, The +R should work just as well (and they supposedly burn faster on the 108).

    Hope this helps

Thanks! I ordered some TY dvd-R 8x White hub-printable (new product) from Rima and I'll see how they work, I will burn at 4x if necessary. My whole problem could have just some bad Prodisc.
