I'm trying to backup my extended Lord of the Rings trilogy and I figure if I can remove the 25+ minutes worth of credits that I'll be happier with the resulting quality. I know that DVD Shrink can do this easily in re-author mode, but it doesn't want to let me do it in full disc mode. How might I go about doing what I'm trying to do.
Thanks!![]()

I've already stated that I know I can do it in re-author mode, but I'd like to keep the menus intact.
I'm not saying I need to know how to do this within DVD Shrink. If there are other programs that are able of doing this, please let me know. -
Thats the best one "I" could find. I always just rip the movie or the whole thing.

DVd Remake / Pro can hide the credits, assuming they have a chapter stop at the beginning of them. The problem is to remove them completely requires potentially rebuilding the video component to a new length, new number of chapters etc. This in turn requires a rewriting of the IFO files to match the new structures. If this was simple to do, I would have thought it would be implemented in DVD Shrink by now.

I use VobBlanker for this kind of task. With it, you can just blank the cell with the credits. After that shrink it. Alot easier than to rebuild the wohle dvd manually!

Yup, VobBlanker is what I use as well for cutting credits. Might as well blank out all the unecessary stuff while you're at it.

Didn't realised VOBBlanker could get down to this level. Cool stuff.

Yes, vobblanker can do it at the sub-cell level (i.e. blanking parts of a cell!).
Definitely what you want...
jeanlMenuShrink a free tool to shrink menus into stills with or without audio!
DVDSubEdit: a free tool to modify your subtitles directly inside the vob. -
@guns1inger, if you have DVDRemake PRO then you can crop any cell right down to GOP level which is basically anywhere. You can also split cells and basically remove the middle segment of a single cell by cropping the end of one and the start of the other. I'm not sure which version this feature is in. It's helpful if you want to cut out the naughty bits kids don't like on a DVD (*SPOILER ALERT!!!), like when Bambi dies
. If you want to be real geeky then you would also use cell command to start skipping any blanked cells
this is a great feature if you want to add in deleted scenes or just add something extra to the DVD without affecting the original chaptering.
you can also insert chapters by making that split cell into a Program but I won't go into to much detail as I wrote a simple guide HERE -
as stated above dvdremake pro can do what you want. I just used it to cut out a logo from a dvd, as they had the logo as part of the actual film. Works great and keeps everything. Essentially this program can do what you are asking about (and lots more)
