I have no idea were to begin, so it's story time! As most of you know I am a reformat whore, well, atleast a Norton Ghost 9.0 whore. After reformatting a few times I believe that my Windows XP Professional Edition disc may be damaged. When I went to install IBserver 1.0 I got this error, which by the way has never happened before:

Component 'COMCTL32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
No big deal, I downloaded the file and registered it, all is well. Does this file usually register when Windows XP Professional Edition is installed, or is it possible that in the past another program installed COMCTL32.OCX and IBserver 1.0 just ran off from it? I've Googled it, with no luck. Thanks for any information.

  2. A lot of programs write to this file and I mean a lot. But if it hasn't been written to or created, sounds like IBserver just was expecting it to be there and didn't supply there own

I just checked my Windows XP Pro install disk, and COMCTL32.OCX is not included with XP.

It gets installed by other programs, in my case it got added when I installed VB6 on the system.

So nothing wrong with your installation disk.

I believe that any program written in any of microsoft's programming suites such as Visual Basic or Visual C++ will more than likely install and uses this, because I believe it contains the CommonDialog control, amongst others.
    If in doubt, Google it.
