@ LordVader - I think, on this one, the force has left you...
Do a search in Google for "WAV to MP3" and pick one of the many returns.
There's software galore where you load up your WAV and hit "Go" to get an MP3 out in the designated location.
I use MusicMatch Jukebox. There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

do you know, what LAME is ?
do you know, what High frequencys are?
have you ever used command lines, in a software by DOS ?
i guess not. cause babys always use GUIs. that's why you love MusicMatch
don't take it personal, just fuc#in' with you, man.

there was a contest time ago about mp3 encoding, where some judges couldn't tell wich one was the Mp3 and wich track was the RAW version.
do a search on the net. all the articles were related with LAME encoder.
like you said, is impossible to get 1:1 encoding, but there's always some tips to archive resolutions and preserve that at the cost of less space.
that's the kind of information that i'm looking for.

Too late.
Do you know how to use punctuation correctly?
Do you know how to spell "frequencies" correctly?
Do you know that you should start sentences with capital letters?
Do you know that by throwing insults around that you're less likely to elicit (that means "get") help from people - not just the one you're trying to insult, by also others who see how petty you are?
Do you know that if you're just ******* with someone, it's best to end in aso they know?

The max bitrate of mp3 is 320k, I would suggest that you head over to hydrogenaudio and do some reading.
Also I am not to sure that you can read anything much into posts/days joined. According to you I have needed a lot of help (high posts/days ratio) and haven't been finding answers on my own when in reality I haven't required any help.

A-B listening tests show that MP3 at 320 kbit/s is transparent to the source audio.
I personally recommend using the r3mix preset on LAME. Relatively good compression, essentially transparent audio. The settings are mostly logically deduced.

So you think that you can hear the difference between r3mix and source audio?

Some of the smartest people prefer GUI's.
You know why, because the more operating systems you mess with, the more you have to remember.
There is nothing wrong with musicmatch.
I use it too.
You can not do a 1:1 copy for the obvious reason.
You are working with a compressed file that gets rid of the higher frequencies.
End of Rant.
