    I have everything ripped at 128 AAC. I was impressed with the lower quality sounds, but when you plug the ipod directly into the receiver I could tell a difference. At 128 I am quite happy.

    but yeah, I like the .m4a file format of iTunes.

    Digital Audio Tape. It was a great idea, but it was pretty much killed off by the recording industry who feared people would make perfect recordings ...they were right

    Gee - the problem is that the damn DAT portables would be the size of a toaster oven

    Introduced by Sony in 1987. 17 years ago, so that'd make you 9 when it came out.
