Clicks and Pops in Audio

When I playback my captured footage, there are clicks and pops in the audio.

Questions:

Can my sound card be the cause of this? I have a Delta 1010 that I use for digital audio recording. The soundcard on my motherboard is disabled so not to inerfere with the Delta 1010. I don't understand how a sound card can interfere with video capture.

Is it the video tape? Admittedly, I've not played the videos I'm having problems with through my tv/vcr to see if the clicks and pops are coming from tape, but I will say this: one of the videos was brand spanking new, I don't understand.

VCR heads? Brand new VCR but the heads have never been cleaned.

Settings in NeroVisionExpress? How can someone screw this up? There's not much to set. My capture setting is DV, Type 1. I'm writing to a hard drive totally seperate from Windows.

Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated.

I was having the same problem transfering video tapes to the hard drive using an ATI graphic card with a SoundBlaster audio card. I finally had to resort to taking out the sound card & using the on board AC97 sound chip. Don't ask my why but it completely solved the problem. Even when I disabled the Soundblaster in the Bios setup it still caused plroblems. I literally had to remove the card & it cleared up the sound. Not the solution I wanted, but hey, whatever works.

I has a similar issue when recording with my ATI AIW card. I used an internal cable from the capture card to the sound card and this resolved my issues. Hope this helps.

So it's using the sound chip of my Delta 1010 as opposed to the one that's built into my computer?

Possible solutions:

Disable the Delta 1010, enable the sound card that's built into my computer, and see what happens.

If that doesn't work, try pulling the Delta 1010 altogether.

Excuse my ignorance but what does one's sound chip have to do with capturing video? I don't understand how the two relate.

I've had that happen. Sometimes adjusting the tracking on the VCR will fix it.
