  1. Hello, I am a newbie to video encoding indeed! I have searched the forums and found an archived thread that did not answer my question, but mentioned it.

Ok so here is my problem. I downloaded a MJ music video from the internet and attempted to encode it in ffmpeg to mp2 video and ac3 audio for a DVD. The video worked fine, but the audio didn't go. I tried to encode just the audio, and it instantly says it's finished and yields a zero K file. I demuxed the source and the audio was in mp2 format, so I tried to pop that into sizzle without encoding, but it wouldn't read it. It opens in quicktime, but quicktime will only export it to a hinted movie or something. So in itunes, I converted it to mp3, and then tried to encode it to ac3 in ffmpeg again. It did the same thing as before, which is weird because it's a totally different file. Like in "The Ring" where the video copies the weird header things or whatever, lol : >. Anyway, this is really odd - I've tried everythign I can. I even tried to use my original audio from an MJ cd and synced it with the video with synchol, and made a quicktime .mov. The same thing occured? The only similarity between these two things are the length of the audio... Hmm... The file I am trying to convert is Michael Jackson's "Dirty Diana", and I think the file found on limewire is the same as I have (yeah I even tried to redownload it!)... : <

I am going through a list of music videos and have made many successful encodings before and after this problem occured. Here is the log (it was the same except for the source file for all attempts.) -

Encoding started on Mon Dec 20 00:52:16 EST 2004

Well I hope someone can help me!! Thonx a whole bunch. I bet it's something really dumb! lol...
