  1. This may not go here, and if it does not, I am sorry. Please inform me.

My question....for personal back up, can I put a DVD in my dvd player and record it on to a dvd or even VHS....getting around the copyright?
Anyone have a secret to this? Running the wires a certain way?

I think that question is pretty basic! Im doing what most are not...Im actually putting my Dvd collection on vhs and some on dvd-r's..but some I can not because of the copy protection.

If this helps in any way, my dvd recorder is a toshiba, and my vcr is a toshiba...I have a rca dvd player.
I am thinking I may have to do all this on my computer, but Im hoping there is another way. Much older vcr? hmmmm..
    Any helpers?

  2. It would make more sense to back up to DVD using a DVD burner in your computer....

It's faster and you get much better quality if you do it on your PC. Why bother any other way?

    Hello,

Yep as mentioned rip with dvdshrink w/ macrovision free settings (standard). Then you can play the backed-up dvd and "back it up" to the vcr without any issues...
