Everyone has a different pick and it is really hard in my opinion to pick one as "the best".
Having said that I always preferred DVD2ONE myself.
Lately I have been using DVDShrink (it is free) because my computer crashed and I lost my serial number for DVD2ONE and haven't felt like paying another $40 some odd dollars for it again.
But I kinda miss it
But since DVDShrink is free you might as well give it a try.
I should point out that a lot of people are also very found of CloneDVD2 but again you must pay for it. It does has have a trail period though. I just downloaded it to a new computer and tried it and it seemed to work really well but my compression was only 87% which is a low amount of compression so that might not have been the best test.
One thing I don't like about CloneDVD2 though is that there is no option I could find to adjust the final output size. So it ended up being 4460MB which is DAMN close to the limit of a DVD. With DVDShrink and DVD2ONE you can adjust that and I normally went for 4400MB so as not to "cut it" so close to the bone. It could be such an option exists and I just missed it but I looked everywhere for such an option with no luck. Of course I read no docs or guides for it hehehe

Clonedvd2 is my transcoder of choice.... also has the best burn engine I have used. I use it about %95 of the time to transcode.. %100 of the time to burn DVD Files.

Fulci, I wouldn't want to suggest anything in violation of forum rules, but I did hear of one program called Nagbuster that was designed for situations like yours with DVD2ONE.
Having said that, I use DVDShrink and DVDDecrypter all the time. I have never had a real problem with them, so if it ain't broke...
Actually, what I would like in the next version of DVDShrink is the ability to retain layer change positions, or place layer changes, in order to increase the likelihood of the resultant DVD working properly."It's getting to the point now when I'm with you, I no longer want to have something stuck in my eye..."
