  1. I was just wondering; with as much problems that I am get with Studio DC10 plus… Is there a capture program I can use instead of the Studio software? I purchased Vegas Video 2.0 and while it edits movies, it doesn’t come with capture software. How can I avoid loading the Studio DC10 plus software, but get the drivers for the device? Any suggestion taken.

    rallytbk,

In brief, the best thing you can do (so you know it will work) is go ahead
with the installation of the Studio for the DC10+
Then, you can use other apps, like Virtualddub or avi_io or whatever will
capture AVI files (most apps will)

When you go to settup the DC10+ to capture, be sure to allow (assuming
you want the fullest res., so 640x480, then, in the applications's configure
area, set the DC10+ settings there. And, before you ask, NO, you can't
use the HUFFY coded with it (at least not to my knowledge), and besides,
it is already compressed, and better than HUFFY. That is, in compression's
    filesize. It's smaller than HUFFY.

The thing is, if you prefer to use an alternative to Studio, then try VD or
avi_io and see if you can get less hassil from them.

I've used VD and avi_io with the DC10+ but it just depended on what I was
messing around with at the time. ...I'm always looking for a better routine
and capture quality (if I can get it)

Well, the Wizard of Ozz is on, and in short, after 2 whole days f_cking
around with my ATI Rage Fury and my ATI-TV Wonder card, and many,
many blank screens, and also system crashes, I got it to (ATI-TV Wonder)
card to capture back to 352x480. And, I wanted badly to try it out on
the "Wizard of OZ" movie on TNT. So far, only 1 frame drop in 21,237
    frames or 12 minutes.

You can visit my revised web site for some samples from my DC10+
and other cards I've ben messing around with. I'll be updating it from
time to time with NEW clips I feel are better encodes or to put
other interesting ones on or for specials occasions. (below)

  3. I checked out AVI_IO and will try that for now…

In my quest to find common reasons to my Studio DC10Plus problems, I discovered that some of the problems I maybe having may be related to the fact that I have one dedicated hard drive for all my software. Obvious to me now (after I read The Desk Top Video Handbook Ver. 12.0 Videoguys Recommended Solutions for Video Storage) that having MSOffice, internet software, etc. slows the seek time. I will now load less software when I want to edit movies (home, personal).
