As others have stated, it isn't too hard to spot someone who was previously banned posting under a new name. Usually, they "sound" the same, and have the same agenda. If an IP check is the same (or the same group of IPs... i.e., from the same ISP), then it just simply confirms it.

If someone reapplies under a new name, and "behaves", then I suppose that we would never know. At the same time, this "reformed" member probably deserves to be judged on his current behaviour in any case.

The way around the IP ban is to get a different IP address. Duh. Also proxies may work. Problem is when we find you that IP is also banned. Eventually you run out.

all i saw was a white page... ?

and i banned myself from a forum once. I couldn't access the site so I had to get to it form work and get a the email address to another admin (didn't have any remembered). They should have put those buttons farther apart. >
