4x media. Batch I'm using is from Office Depot, Yellow topped, made in japan.
These scans are of a disc burned at 2x, using a NEC 3500.
Using NEC3500 for CDSpeed, DVDInfo Pro, and a Liteon 832 for KProbe.

Odd, I seem to be getting almost better KProbe scans from the same MXL RG02 (yellow top Maxell) discs when I burn them at 12x in my 3500
The stock firmware sucks for overspeeding these discs, even though they can handle such speeds easily - the forums at CDFreaks.com have modified firmwares that will give faster speeds if you wish (the Quikee2 version, actually, Liggy/Dee's only goes 4x max, same as the stock firmware).

What firmware on the Nec3500? I havnt updated in quite awhile..I dont even have the option to burn at anything but 4x..? And I think it has a chance of being my 832S..It dosnt seem to like -R media very well..

It's an IODATA 2.28 firmware (but can be flashed onto your NEC 3500), but the firmware has been modified to allow for up to 12x burning on MXL RG02 media (as well as speeding up many other types of DVD media), and I've found those discs to play back superbly even on my picky Xbox, as well as anything else I try them on...

If you're perhaps just interested in a few speedups, go to
http://freeweb.siol.net/tvajng/Quikee_FW.htm - or if you're not interested at all, you're probably okay with your firmware you have now - the current firmware for the NEC 3500 is version 2.18, so if you're at lower than 2.18, you might want to update to that one anyhow, even if you're not concerned about burning discs faster.
Oh, almost forgot, if you're wanting to use the speedup firmwares, you'll need a flashing utility as well - http://binflash.cdfreaks.com/download/1/5 is a Windows GUI version of the flasher. -
Canuck - I already had hacked firmware.
Heh..was using herries 2.27, just updated to Liggy/Dee's 2.18 though... It (now, after working with Dee half the day on the forums at CDfreaks, heh) supporst 12x Mxl RG02..it was supposed to be 12x before, but for some reason it was only allowing for 2x after the firmware update. However it's all fixed now, heh heh. I'll be posting scans in a few minutes of the MXL RG02 burned at 12x using Liggy & Dee's 2.18 firmware. Also updated my liteon from VSOB to VSOE w/ omnipatcher..so we'll see how that goes.
