    I am using Galactics's method. After having using dvd2Onex following a rip of Last temtation of Christ using mactheripper 2.6, I created a folder called LAST_TEMPTATION_OF_CHRIST and had dvd2onex place the video_ts and audio_ts folders in it. BTW, the disk ripped mounted on my PB not as LAST_TEMPTATION_Of_CHRIST, but rather DVDVolume, (I beleieve the case is represented correctly).

    Well, every time, I begin the burn, not before, two files Desktop DB and Desktop DF of 2 kb each appear. I cannot remove them because the burn has already been initiated. I am now on my 5th dvd-r. This is also going to have to be thrown in the dustbin of history. Is God angry at me for trying to rip this particular movie or what?

    Help out oh merry men,

    Thanks,

    Roxio fixed this issue in Toast 6.0.7 so update to that version. In fact Toast made things really simple: control-click on the VIDEO_TS folder in the Finder and choose Toast It. Toast opens and sets everything up for the burn. When you click the burn button Toast automatically adds the empty AUDIO_TS folder.

    My understanding is these files appeared because you opened the VIDEO_TS folder. They didn't appear in earlier versions of Toast 6 if that folder was not opened in the Finder.

    Ok Thank you Frobozz. Will update to Toast6.07. But I did not open the Video_TS Folder. I just opened the LAST_TEMPTATION_ etc folder to which I had saved the products of dvd2oneX's requanticization. I have even tried renaming the LAST_TEMP folder to the DVDVolume spec name that I believe Galactica's instructions enjoin, but to no avail. I am now on 7th DVD-R disc. Meritline's loving this as they can expect me to come back sooner for some more discs.

    Thanks. Will go to the Roxio site and download the update. Hope they remember me still.

    That or just quit the program after each burn and reopen before the 2nd and each consecutive burn

    but that should have been done away with in 6.0.7

    also, those technically should not mess up the disc, as they are "invisible" files. do those discs not play?

    As long as you maintain the architecture of
    DVD_NAME
    -->AUDIO_TS
    -->VIDEO_TS

    I dont see why they wouldnt work. The mention i have in my tutorial is that if you see those you are probably NOT in DVD-ROM UDF mode, rather are in DATA MODE.

    Frobozz, or anyone else,

    I upgraded to Toast 6.0.7. Tried the control click on the Video_TS folder and chose Toast It. The crazy files were added again. 2kb each; one Desktop DB and the other a Desktop DF. What's more, the audio_ts folder was not added. I have now wasted 7 perfectly good discs. Someone help me here please.

    Thank you,

    I have tried, Galactica, to maintain that particular architecture. I named the folder to which DVD2OneX was saving LAST_TEMPTAION_OF_CHRIST. Then in Data, with the DVD ROM selected of Toast, added the folder, LAST_TEMPTATION_OF_CHRIST with its video_ts and audio_ts folders created by DVD2OneX. And as soon as I hit the record button those files , the Desktop DB and the Desktop DF are added. Of course the disc is ruined after that even if I let the process proceed because the disc does not play in DVD player nor on my standlone.

    I've upgraded to 6.0.7 Toast and these files were added when I ctrl clicked on the video_ts folder within the overall folder that dvd2onex had made and selected Toast It and following having hit record.

    The name of the unencrypted disc is DVDVolume not LAST_TEMPTATION, so I tried renaming the folder that DVD2oneX had made DVDVolume and tried to add that folder to Toast. Again as soon as the red button on Toast is hit, the two files are added rendering the disc null, void.

    ANy help would be received with thanks,
    Thank you,

    I don't know what else to recommend. Here is Roxio's explanation of what was changed regarding burning VIDEO_TS folders in Toast 6.0.7.

    "Simplified creation of DVDs from pre-existing VIDEO_TS folders

    "New option to create "DVD-Video from VIDEO_TS folder" is added to the Video tab.

    "Toast It" contextual menu now supports VIDEO_TS folder. Control-click on a VIDEO_TS folder and select "Toast It" to automatically launch Toast, switch to the correct option in the Video tab, and add the folder to the window.

    Automatically creates a "New Disc" entry when a VIDEO_TS folder is added to the main content window. This "New Disc" entry is written as "NEW_DISC" for the UDF portion.

    "Automatically adds an empty AUDIO_TS folder immediately prior to recording for improved compatibility during playback in set-top DVD players.

    "Automatically removes Mac OS system files from within the VIDEO_TS folder (e.g., .DS_Store, etc.) for improved compatibility during playback in set-top DVD players. Only files with BUP, IFO, and VOB extensions are included in the VIDEO_TS folder."

    I see these Desktop DB and Desktop DF files too, at the start of the burn. Toast puts them there temporarily, because after the burn they're gone again from the list. Not all my burned UDF DVD-R discs have these files, not sure why only some. But my set top Pioneer player and software DVD player have no problem with additional files in root, visible or invisible. (Toast 6.0.3)

    well, they have been there for me throughout, not going away at the end of the process. But I think, I've figured out what I was doing wrong. I wasn't seeing things correctly. The pullout tab in data I thought had been selected for DVD ROM (UDF), but in fact it had been selected it seems now for MAC and PC. That's what I think was putting those DF and DB Desktop files. Problem is that DVD player nor my standalone would play the burned disc with those files sitting sandwiched between the video_ts and audio_ts folders. What a dummy, huh. Sorry for the hysterionics guys. I wasn't looking carefully enough.

    Thanks Frobozz, Galactica and Case for the help.
    -appreciate it,

    Do they appear on the first burn after opening toast?
    For me they use to appear on every burn AFTER the 1st burn. Solution was to quit the app for each burn after the 1st.

    if you get them constantly, only suggestion I have is to repair permissions and reinstall Toast or even contact roxio on that one. I have a contact at Toast if you would like to email them directly - just let me know

    I basically scrapped the dvd2onex file and re-ripped the disc. Then requantized, saving the video and audio _ts folders to a folder with a shortened name this time e.g., only Last_Temp, opened that folder in Toast's Data with the DVD Rom (UDF) slected (it seemed that the selection had previously been for "Mac and PC") and it worked--None of those pesky files were added this time. So basically, I don't know exactly where the problem issued from, whether the folder that Mactheripper produced and dvd2onex requantized or the folder that dvd2onex requantized and that I chose in Toast's Data, it seems now, with a wrong selection. Could the problem have lain with the requantized folder and not with the wrong selection under Toast's Data? It seems possible that maybe the wrong selection, Mac and PC, had not been selected and that DVD ROM (UDF) had been all those wasted discs but that the folder containing the video and auido _ts files was somehow corrupted. I don't know where exactly the problem was unless someone has their insights here, but in any case, those files have gone away and after 8wasted discs I had a successful burn in Toast. Thanks again to all. Looks as though I can get away without contacting Roxio this time, Galactica. Thanks for the possibility of the lead though.

    PEACE,
