I use DVDShrink (the "reauthor") and just rip the main episode titles. Rip with "no compression". You can rip all the main titles from each of the episode DVDs

Then, I import each VOB as an "asset" in DVDLab-you can use each one as-is...no need to DEMUX...then author a new DVD with DVDLab, and save to a VIDEO_TS folder. (don't do too many episodes at a time-as the quality will be degraded in the next step)

Then I use DVDShrink again on the newly created folder to make it fit onto a recordable DVD...save to a new VIDEO_TS folder, and burn with NERO...

I have been able to (so far) put the first 4 discs from 14 of my Monty Python onto one DVD-R...with a simple text menu to select each episode. The quality is not as good as the original...

I'm sure there are many other ways, but this one worked for me

    just a thought

... or try this guide. Use VOBBlanker to blank out the second half of the episodes for your first disc, then repeat, this time blanking out the first half of the episodes for your second disc. Both discs should now be under 4.37GBs, retaining original quality.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    jim,

What is the advantage of using VOBBlanker?
With Shrink, you can replace an episode with a still image.
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks

With DVDShrink's still image, if you select that particular title from the menu, the still image plays for the running time of the feature it replaced. VOBBlanker replaces it with a very small VOB (up to about 2 seconds of playback of a black screen I believe). So VOBBlanker can typically cut an extra couple of hundred MBs more than DVDShrink can.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. I have had good luck doing this...First use DVD Shrink to re-author the episodes that will fit on one disc, no compression...then take the main menu picture, spend a few minutes in photo shop erasing their titles....load that menu picture in TMPGEnc with music if you want music (I use the shows ending theme song)...now you have a small MPEG-2 to load up in TMPGEnc DVD Author.

Load the episode titles and the menu MPEG-2 ...reset the chapters to 5 minutes or what ever you want...output the result. Use Classic Tools to make an Image...burn with DVD Decrypter. Im sure others may have better ways but this is how I have been doing my Episode DVDs lately. Happy Holidays to you All!!
