  1. what's the purpose of FrameServing an AVI using VirtualDub
I have sony TRV38. I use Ulead Video Stuido 7 to capture AVI file. Do I need to FrameServing ?
How about Extracting the Audio? Do I need to do that also? Thanks

Well presumably because you want to do some kind of filtering or something like that. Personally I would recommend using AVISynth instead.

So you are capturing DV? Some possible reasons to frameserve would be to deinterlace or to denoise.

The whole purpose of frameserving in general is when you want to do something to the source in one program (be it noise filtering, editing, color correction, deinterlace, resize, whatever - it doesn't really matter what) and then want to take the output of that process and input it into another program, without having to save out to an intermediate file.
    If in doubt, Google it.
