  1. Hi,
    Had a new dvd/cd rom installed on pc, no make comes up other than standard combo?? Now can't burn anything, won't recognise disks other than ritek 52x, but can't find them anywhere, the point?? someone said update firmware?? but I thought you need the manufacturer, & is there any other reason why my drive won't recognise my blank cd's

    oh plays any disk with any media on.

    Identify your drive first with something like this tool.

    If your local PC shop installed a CD/DVD-Rom instead of a CD/DVD-R, RW it's gonna be be pretty hard to burn a disc.

    You can not burn cd's on a cd-rom drive.

    You need a cd burner.

    There is your answer.
