Evry so often when I go to open nero - usually after I have already burned soem cds, closed it and then re-opened later-
    i get the message
the executable file has been modified. maybe your computer has a virus. we recommend you use the latest anti-software to check your pc.
If I reboot and start again it works fine.
There are no virus' on my machine (well not according to the latest updates of three different virus checkers and a trojan remover - not all loaded at the same time.
The only thing that I have modified is that I have changed the mp3 dll to an upgraded version.
An annoying problem which I would like to sort.
    regards

  2. I don't think you have a virus on your computer. I'm running W2K SP2 and I get this problem every time I make a change to the hardware or software.

Try deinstalling Nero, then search for all references to nero and ahead on your boot drive. When Nero is uninstalled it appears to leave behind a log file and the executable unnero.exe among other things; you have to delete these files and then reboot your computer before reinstalling. I have found that when this supposed virus problem occurs, that if I don't delete these other files and reboot I get the same error again.

I would not want to argue about the quality of Nero for making CDs, but this appears to be one of the worst virus detection implementations ever. On the other hand I don't actually believe that the program is doing any virus detection -- it appears to me to be a check for piracy and a poor one too.
