  1. I find it easier to convert AVI to mpeg format by using TMPGEnc but i have no idea how to add a border. My subtitles get cut off on the bottom and I have read forums on how to add one and what size it should be. I still have no idea what to do about it... if someone could guide me through putting a border, I will be very grateful. (I watch them on 60 diagonal TV.)

About Cucusoft, it takes alot longer to convert than TMPGEnc, I see no option to add a *border*, when I burned the file to a CD-R; it had no sound when i played it on my T.V., and once again, my subtitles got chopped off. But it's very simple to use...

It's either I don't know how to use them properly or I'm having a diffucult time. If someone could guide me through the WHOLE thing, again, I will be very grateful. ^_^

To add borders in tmpgenc go to settings/advanced/clip frame/arrange setting-arrange mode method and choose "center(custom size) and note the original size and then fiddle with the settings till you have borders on the sides and top and bottom,16x16 pixels should be good enough for borders added,so if your orignal size is 720x480 the resize would be 704x464.

  3. Thanks man, except I had to use 33x33 pixel. So mine turned out to be 667x447 instead of 720x480.

I have another question, when I play it... the video is kind of slanted like on the left side. It's only a little bit but I want to know how to fix it if theres a solution or is it my T.V.?

    Try using FitCD

It will do the resize for you and you have 4 options for overscan ... 0 being no account for it and 3 being the most accounting for it (the 2 setting is usually good).

It creates a simple AviSynth script that you can use but if you are using TMPGEnc Plus then you can use the CENTER (CUSTOM SIZE) option for the VIDEO ARRANGE METHOD and just plug those numbers in.

Grr, I have another problem with this avi file. The other files have no problem getting their file size lower and losing audio. But for this particular file, it takes about 4000mb?! I usually put 4000 kbs for Video BitRate and 192 for Audio BitRate. When I try that with this file, the 4000kbs Video BitRate is fine since I don't notice any quality loss but the no matter the number is for the Audio BitRate, it won't play any sound... Whats wrong?

What sound format in the original AVI?

What do you mean you get no audio? Where and when? In the final encode?

Too many questions you need to answer (DETAILS PLEASE!) before I or anyone else can help.

You need to brush up big time reading some guides.

You don't have enough knowledge of the basics for us to help you at this point.

Extract the audio to wav and use the wav as the audio input for TMPGEnc, like here.
