  1. Ok, So I have a DivX file which I wanted to convert using DIKO, but I got this error:

So obviously Im going to have to change the format of the DivX audio [MP3] to AC3. How can I do this?

    Thank you!

Probably a bug in the program, since the authors didnt even spell check their code. You might try opening the file in Virtualdub, extract the audio as a WAV, then frameserve the video into TMPGENC and encode.

  3. That didnt really help me.
Could you be a little more specific?
I also would like the end result to be a divx file too.
All I want to do is change the audio format.

So why convert? This doesn't make sense to me

  5. I want the MP3 audio to be AC3 audio. So I need to encode/transcode/resample whatever the word is for it.

So you've got a DivX file with MP3 audio, but you'd like a DivX file with AC3 audio ? And you don't want to touch the video at all if it can be helped ? So just the audio conversion, yes ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

open the divx in ffmpeggui, convert the audio to ac3 (or do you want 5.1 ac3?).
    open the divx in virtualdubmod
select video->direct stream copy(the video will not be converted then)
select stream->stream list and add the ac3 audio.
save it as a new avi.

    WOW, I'm a mind-reader

First things first - converting from MP3 audio to AC3 audio isn't gonna magically improve the audio quality. Garbage in = garbage out.

The way I'd do it is load your AVI into ffmpeggui, then select your settings for the AC3 file. Once your settings are as you would like them, press the convert button. Once this is done, open your AVI with VirtualdubMod, go to Streams > Stream List and delete the existing stream. Then click the Add button, and add your new AC3 stream. Go to Video > Direct Strem Copy and then File > Save As ... and save it out to a new AVI file. This won't touch the video (it'll just directly copy it into the new file), and attach the new audio stream to it also.

    EDIT:

    Damn you Baldrick !

Good to see you had the same method I did though
    If in doubt, Google it.
