    Either he's wrong, or you've misunderstood him. Adding to that, a GPS is (from our point of view) a reciever, that gets it location from satellite signals. For anyone to fing a GPS reciever, it has to be hooked up to a sender too...

    Differential GPS is both transmitter system and (seperate) receiver .. but that is a different subject ..

  3. Ahh... that makes the difference.

    However, what I'm saying is for the handheld GPS units. They cannot work out a position with only one satellite.

    I think a lot of people get GPS confused with GPRS, which most modern cell phones have.
