Problem playing DVD's on my DVD player! PLZ HELP!

Hey dudes & dudettes :P

Everything WORKS right with the DVD player, but here is the thing, I went on vacation to Thailand and bought some DVD's (Star Wars Trilogy etc etc), now when I try to play them, it all works however, I don't know how to explain this, but the picture size is bigger than my TV, do you know what i mean? It's weird, the picture size is just bigger than my TV, so I thought maybe you know if there is anything I can do about it?

i bet those are bootleg and wrong format ///

i bet those are not NTSC ///

More info please. What region are the discs from and what region are you in (1,2, etc). Also you can play them so it may or not be a pal/ntsc issue (they have different resolutions and frame rates).

Nope, I bought everything for their right price, i.e. I have the Star Wars Trilogy BOX thing, The price in thailand was about the same it is in sweden.

And they are DVDs.. however are you suppose to help me or suppose to play smart or somethin? :S

if they were the wrong region - they would not play at all ...
not be 'bigger' ..

what you described , 90% of the time is one of the reasons i listed when the disks came from asia (and i know from plenty of first hand experience) , i was not be "smart" about it -- but factual ..

the disks and boxs often even look the same or very close to it .. and you can NEVER believe what is printed on the sleeve/box as to format/audio type/ or pretty well anything...

if it IS legit ... there could be a just a few reasons ..

If it is like the scanning lines on your TV seems more expanded than normal where the image seems to stretch vetically then you're having the same problem as mine. My friend in Asia sent me some dvds and it has this problem on a Toshiba player but would play normally on my Pioneer dvd/LD combo. The Toshiba is about 2 months older than my Pioneer so I attribute it to older firmware. Try it in another player.

You never said which way the screen was too big. Could be settings on your player. My player has a lot of video output options, but most of the options aren't available if the disc doesn't support it.

My theory is that some setting on your dvd player is wrong and Star Wars actually uses that feature. I seen things like this.
