Hi. Would anybody happen to know some Rome history and had seen the movie Gladiator? My assignment is to list several differences when comparing the movie's events with real events that happened in Rome.

All I could come up with was that Caesar was killed by his own son. That's highlighted white for spoilers. Any help is appreciated! :P

  5. You might also want to try renting this from one of the various DVD rental outlets -

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0237666/

Or comapare with other movies, such as -

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065922/

    http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0054331/

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058085/

I'd list some non-hollywood / Italian-made films, but those unfortunately are not available on DVD yet.

Nah, I reckon you'll have to change your signature back, so that our impersonations are accurate

Besides, it's funnier with that image IMO
    If in doubt, Google it.

So...in order to keep a topic "on-topic" in the Off Topic forum, you would need to keep "off-topic" for the topic....right?

  23. Considered the worst Roman Emperor, Gais, also known as Caligula, went insane during his reign. At one point he actually appointed a horse senator. He had a fever most of his reign which may account for his mental illness. He was assascinated by a group of Romans lead by Claudius, who then became emperor. That is just a little of what I remember. I can post more if you want. I hope that helps.

Also a possible cause for the fall of the Western Roman Empire is lead poisoning, because the glasses that the royalty drank out of had lead in them (and they drank alot of wine, which is acitic and corroeded the lead), but its just a theory.
