  3. That is a good motherboard (not very good) but the CPU is very good (who cares about frequency if it`s better then a 3200 Ghz Pentium ? And it is much better then the 3200 Pentium ! ) But the great news is you can install WINDOWS 64BIT ( The Best ) !!!! It`s a hole new world there !!!! (You`ll have some problems with drivers). Also you can use XP on another partition of the HDD for games...In a CPU speed (Ghz) is nothing without intelligence... Bye!

Question. If you're buying all new, why go with socket 754 over socket 939? Socket 939 has a longer upgrade path and supports more bandwidth than socket 754. Just some comparisons at AMD's website.

It may not run 64-bit Native, but you'll still have the benefit of 32-bit processing and I'm sure XP64 will support 32-bit apps. There's not much call for an OS that runs only a handful of apps that aren't compatible with much else.

    That's what Macs are for.:P
(Yes, I know there are plenty of apps; just not nearly as many as PCs.)

OK, so where can i get a combo with a AMD 3400 for around 300$? I can wait on the RAM. i just want to buy the cobo now so i dont waste my saved money on somthing else.

A plus would be that the company that sells it also builds it for you and puts the BIOS in as i dont really know how to do that! Thanks for the Help.

I ordered from BZBoyz about 3 years ago with no problem, but after reading the reviews, I wouldn't order from them now. I just ordered an AMD ATHLON 64 3200+ w/fan and it came with that same motherboard, the ECS 755-A2. I only paid $203.00 total. I've been using ECS motherboards for 3 years now. I have 2 of them. Never a problem, no defects.
Thanks HatchetMan for posting that link for Windows 64bit. I didn't know that was out there. When I receive my new computer, I'll be installing that. I'm also getting a SATA 200 GB hard drive. I'm excited.

I only got the motherboard and chip for $203.00. I got it at http://www.pcontime.net. Of course, I just ordered it, so I haven't received it yet. I'll be curious to see if it arrives in a timely manner and if it works.

I have that exact ECS board in a render box at work. It works OK, but the bios choices are quite limited. I'd suggest the following:

    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-136-147&depa=0

    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-484&depa=0

BTW, these AMD 64 Systems are FAST, and they run COOL.
