  1. Hi guys, I know I'm late but I finally got myself a DVD writer.

I have a PIII 866MHz and have been using proshow to create VCD slideshows, and the encoding speed achieved for VCD is usually around 0.7X.

Now I'm trying to create a DVD slideshow, but the encoding speed is down to a miserable 0.1X - it'll take forever to encode a DVD!

So, is 0.1X the usual encoding speed for proshow DVD? Thanks in advanced for any feedback.

Im using the GOld version and i'm getting about the same speed. When its Rendering video it gets to 88% then locks up. I tried this 3 times with the same result. All the pictures total under a gig. I can do a normal DVD movie faster than this thing encodes.

Well, compared to the time I spend creating the slideshow, even 0.1 times real time is by no means any significant amount of time...

Mine encodes at better than 4x. Any machine under 1 Ghz is too slow for DVD work. You need more HP.

Im really starting to hate Proshow Gold. I have created VideoCDs fine but trying to do DVDs is a pain. I have added 180 images with several small MPG clips. The damn thing freezes around 90% when ;rendering video; section. Using my laptop with a Athlon2500+. Does the same on my dell desktop.

  10. Thanks all. Tested on my brother's P4 3.0GHz machine and found out it's high time to scrap mine!

Proshow freezes all the time when I was using WinME. It's much better with WinXP.

    Thanks.
