I want to resize an avi to a smaller size without modifying the original aspect ratio of the ripped dvd. I've seen guides around but they involve mostly the cropping of the file which is not an option for me.
I checked the size of the frames but everytime I select Media Player to check the size it displays as 740x480 which is not the real size of the frame when I compare it.
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.

open the file in virtualdub. Select file->file information to see the real resolution. Virtualdub can also resize but this will also require re-encoding.
