Would anyone know how I could download and save streaming RealVideo, which uses the pnm protocol (instead of http), to a file???

This is probably not what you are looking for but you could use a screen capture program like Camstasia ( http://www.techsmith.com/ )to record the video as it streams to your screen. It wouldn't be the actual file but probably a reasonable facsimile.

Well, I could try that, if there really is no other way. How many fps can you capture?

  5. There is some program that allows you to see where the stream is coming from and therefore download it....search around google for it. I saw it the other day and, i'm really sorry here, I don't remember where.

  7. You need a program called TinRa, which will let you download the Real networks file. Real server won't send the file unless it is beind downloaded using pnm, but Tinra lets you circumvent that. There are other posts pertaining to this in the forums.
If you want to convert the file to avi or mpeg etc., you will need to use a capture program of some kind, and play the bloody thing in RealPlayer. Unfortunately, the frame rate decreases considerably when the RM file is played from a local file. Does anyone know a way to speed this up?

  8. Streambox VCR will record RealVideo streams (without dropping any frames). I'm not sure if it works with the very latest RealVideo files, but it works with everything I've ever tried before. It also records ASFs. I don't know if it does WMV or not.

Real sued Streambox a few years ago to keep them from selling Streambox VCR, but you can still find it if you look around - I saw it on a Chinese site or two recently.
