if i convert in vcd will i have more room on a dvdR or less. what i mean is a 20min TV show in vcd will be 200MB is that high?

That depends on how you look at things. For VCD quality, it'd be dead on.
At DVD resolution and 'typical' bitrate, the same 20 minutes would take ~750 MB, but the quality would be hugely better (assuming the original source is high quality).
